County receives clean audit report

Freestone County commissioners heard good news from the county’s most recent audit, the auditor finding the results of his recent audit as positive. That happened Sept. 18, when the court also kept the burn ban in place; agreed to some suggestions to increase safety; and made other decisions concerning the upcoming election preparations and other decisions concerning the county’s finances and well-being.

Freestone County commissioners heard good news from the county’s most recent audit, the auditor finding the results of his recent audit as positive. That happened Sept. 18, when the court also kept the burn ban in place; agreed to some suggestions to increase safety; and made other decisions concerning the upcoming election preparations and other decisions concerning the county’s finances and well-being.

Audit results

CPA Kyle Heineman, of the firm of Davis, Heineman & Co., gave an update on the audit of October 2022-September 2023. His written report included the statement, “We encountered no signifiant difficulties in dealing with management in performing and completing our audit.” A summary of the audit included these statements:
