Larger Turnout Than Usual for Election

Approximately 2,000 voters in Freestone County voted in the constitutional election held earlier this month. Out of all of the registered voters in Freestone County, only 17% casted their votes.

“I would say this election was a little bit better than any other constitutional elections,” Election Administrator Renee McBay said. “We had about 400 more voters than normal. I was pleased with the turnout.”

Freestone County Republican Chair Keith Turchi noted that the constitutional elections are always difficult to deal with because of all of the amendments.
