Like a shooting star across the midnight sky, it is with great sadness that the 2025 high school football season has ended for the Bi-Stone coverage area. Seems like only yesterday that we were all anticipating the start of the season. For most of our teams, it was a great year. For others, step one of rebuilding has been completed, so it’s on to a better season in 2026.
Entering the Area finals, one team was left from District 9-3A DI, Region III, and that was the undefeated Fairfield Eagles. This past Friday night, the Eagles ran into some Bulldogs from Yoakum. The maroon and white put up a grand fight, but in the end the scoreboard ruled in favor of Yoakum by the score of 36-29.
Yoakum led 14-7 after a quarter of play, but the Eagles came back to take a one-point advantage by the end of the first half, 22-21. The Bulldogs score twice in the third, and added a two-point conversion, while Fairfield managed just one touchdown. Neither team scored in the final quarter of play, and that’s how the score remained with the Bulldogs ahead by seven.
