The Fairfield Eagles (#6) fell to the Yoakum Bulldogs (#10) 36-29 on Friday night, Nov. 21, at Belton High School in the Area Championship.

“I wish the season wasn’t over. I’m proud of the guys for putting everything they had into the season. They competed like gladiators Friday night. They fought to the very end,” Head Coach John Bachtel said. “Our guys showed a lot of grit Friday night. I’m proud of the effort they gave. I felt like they represented who Fairfield truly is. They were hard nosed workers who competed until the final whistle. This was a blast to know and work with. I am going to miss this senior group.”

Yoakum took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter of play. How- ever, just 12 seconds after the Bulldogs second touchdown, quarterback Kohl Collins connected with Kyden Rodriguez for a touchdown. The PAT by Kieran King was good to make it a 14-7 game.
