Teague Begins Abatement Process on Properties

The City of Teague Board of Aldermen agreed to begin the abatement process on multiple properties at their monthly meeting on Monday, Nov. 17. The properties include 621 Spruce, 421 Cypress, 316 Main Street, 416 N. 8th Ave., 513 Walnut Street, NW Corner of North 4th Ave. and Cedar Street, and 620 Elm Street. The board is scheduling a workshop with the city attorney to discuss the abatement process and what it will look like.

The board tabled the Hilcorp Energy Franchise fee. The city attorney as well as the Hilcorp Energy attorney will discuss the matter more before making a decision.

The board approved the annual fee schedule for 2025-2026. The demolition permit fee for residential and commercial buildings as well as fire inspection permit fees were deleted. The garbage rate decreased from $20.16 per polycart to $18.83 per polycart.
