The Jonathan Hardin Chapter, NSDAR hosted a Veterans’ Luncheon at the Tri-County Golf Club on November 12th. 2025. It was an honor to serve our Veterans from Freestone and Limestone Counties at our meeting on Wednesday! Forty-eight veterans were able to attend. Members from the Fairfield VFW Post 5872, American Legion- Ashburn-Hanna Post 288 in Groesbeck, and Veteran Partners of Texas in Mexia were in attendance.
A special recognition was given to Mr. Harry Hughes. Mr. Hughes served in the US Army during World War II- Pacific Theater. He was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries in the Philippine Islands. He will be honored with a wall stone at the Veterans Remembrance Park Teague in the near future.
Our guest speaker was Patrice A. Melancon, Brigadier General, USAF, Retired. She presented highlights of her career as a bioenvironmental and civil engineer. She served 33 years on active duty and in the reserves. She had multiple deployments and challenging assignments. General Melancon served our country with honor and courage- a true hero.
