Be on guard, stand firm in faith

Katy and I enjoyed going to Breakfast with Santa on Saturday morning. We love going every year.

Katy and I enjoyed going to Breakfast with Santa on Saturday morning. We love going every year. Of course, Boone went as well and he loved seeing Ho Ho!

The end of the first nine weeks is almost here. There is no football Friday night so we get to enjoy a three day weekend this weekend. Teague gets to enjoy a five day weekend as they planned it in their school calendar. I love all of my students, but it has been fast and furious all year long so far so I am excited for the long weekend.

Before we know it Halloween will be here and Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner. Katy and I put our Christmas trees up a couple weeks ago. We just enjoy having them up while we are at home.

Boo on the Square will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Make plans to bring all of the kiddos out for the annual event.

It is so busy this time of the year with all of the extracurricular activities. I enjoy going to watch all the youngsters play flag football on Monday nights and then I end the week by watching varsity football on Friday nights. I enjoy capturing all of the memories at these events.

This week’s Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 16:13. It says, “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”

So often in life, things can get so busy and we tend to put God on the back burner. We are running from here and trying to survive. I still struggle with it. Some days, I have to make myself stop and talk to God for a few minutes because if I don’t I continue to just be overwhelmed.

I have a cross on my desk at work with this verse on it. I see it daily and it reminds me to stand firm in what I believe in. Actions speak so much and someone is always watching us to see what we are doing. We need to be that light for Christ at all times.

I am not perfect and I will never be perfect. I can only strive to be more Christlike daily. I am a human and I am going to fail at times.

So many people hide the stress that they are dealing with. We do it all the time because we want others to think we have it all together, when in reality, we really don’t. Be that encouragement for someone this week and do something nice for them. It could make all the difference in that person’s day or maybe even their life.

My prayer for us this week is that we will stand firm in our faith and let God shine through us. Until next week, make Him famous in all that you do!
