Wortham starts district play with 48-20 win over Frost

The Wortham Bulldogs football team opened its district schedule Friday night, Sept. 27, with a resounding 48-20 home triumph over the Frost Polar Bears.

The Wortham Bulldogs football team opened its district schedule Friday night, Sept. 27, with a resounding 48-20 home triumph over the Frost Polar Bears.

Wortham led 14-7 after one quarter. Late in the second quarter, the Bulldogs reached paydirt again on a one-yard touchdown run by quarterback Jon Ross Black. After a successful two-point conversion, Wortham led 22-7 with 3:09 to go before halftime.

Just 58 seconds later, Wortham found the end zone again on the strength of Yancey Bean’s 58-yard touchdown reception from Black. This allowed the Bulldogs to take a commanding 28-7 lead by intermission.
