On Wednesday morning, Dec. 10, shortly after 6:00 a.m., Freestone County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a burglary in progress on West Hwy 84 between Teague and Mexia A male subject was located by the homeowners inside the residence attempting to sleep on the couch, but it turned into a bad dream for this fella when one of the homeowners was an ex-peace officer. The male subject found himself cuffed on the floor and held at gun point until units arrived on scene.
Upon further investigation, the subject’s clothing was found in the bathroom where he had taken it upon himself to take a shower prior to trying to catch a nap on the couch with the towel he used to dry off next to him.
This subject is extremely lucky he ran into an individual that showed great restraint….. no doubt probably due to his previous law enforcement training.
