Current elected officials all over the world are in trouble with their citizenry being hugely dissatisfied with their performance. I noticed that in Chili, a right wing government replaced a liberal government and the last time a government like this was in power, it handled it’s critics by tossing them out of airplanes over the ocean, but memories are short term now. Just the opposite up in the Northeastern United States where state offices have turned over from conservative to liberal and the current Washington administration has low approval ratings.
What’s happening is that those in power can not solve the modern problems of this life in a hurry and their opponents promise they can instantly solve them if only elected, and the cycle only goes on. The main dissatisfaction stems that this is a system that those at the very top are doing quite well while the rest of us struggle to make the biscuits and gravy come out even.
We need to remember that boring, steady people make the world go round rather than those constantly braying about how spectacular they are. The steady people always show up even on bad days, do essential work that keep the machinery of life running while others are breaking things and sprinting toward the next disaster. Wish those unsung folks a Merry Christmas and hope for all our sakes that they will just keep on keeping on.
