Teague Lifters Compete in Buffalo

The Teague powerlifters competed at the Buffalo meet on Thursday, Jan. 15. Lifting for the boys were Case Nichols (1,305 pounds), Lucky Jones (1,195 pounds), Ny’land Coaster (1,245 pounds), and Isaiah Hauser (1,185 pounds). On the girls side, Xi’yah McGregor lifted 570 pounds, Alondra Aguilera 540 pounds, and Jade Kiser 535 pounds.

“I am extremely proud of how our team competed in the first meet of the season. They didn’t just attack the weights - they encouraged and supported each other throughout the entire competition,” Head Coach Jordan Hataway said. “For several of our athletes, this was their very first time ever competing in powerlifting. We made a few normal firstmeet mistakes while learning to manage the excitement of the moment, but that’s all part of the process. I couldn’t have asked for a better result in our first meet of the season.”

When asked about his goal for the season, Hataway said, “We have a few returners who competed at the regional meet last season, and our goal is to continue developing those lifters while adding a few more to that level. More than anything, we want our athletes to grow in confidence in their abilities, trust their training, and have some fun along the way.”
