The Lord is our strength

Katy and I enjoyed our much-needed long weekend. I had three days off and she had five days off. The first nine weeks of school have flown by. Before we know it, Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here. I love this time of the year.

Katy and I enjoyed our much-needed long weekend. I had three days off and she had five days off. The first nine weeks of school have flown by. Before we know it, Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here. I love this time of the year.

On Saturday, we enjoyed going to the State Fair. We took our nephew, Boone, and he had so much fun.

Boo on the Square will be taking place in Fairfield on Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The annual Parkfest will take place in Teague on Saturday, Oct. 26. Mark your calendars for these events.

This week’s Bible verse is Psalm 27:1. It says, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

I want to share a story I read recently online “A father watched his young child struggling to lift a heavy rock from his sandbox. He could move it a little so that it wobbled, but he didn’t have enough power in himself to get it over the edge onto the grass. After a while, the child gave up, and his father asked him if he’d used all the strength that was available to him.

“The child replied with an overwhelming ‘yes’, but the father reminded him that he hadn’t because he only had to ask for help, and the rock would have been moved quickly. The child had ignored the strength available to him through his father.

“Much in the same way as the child in this illustration tried to achieve his goal in his own strength; we often forget that we need to not struggle with problems in life when there is a heavenly Father ready and willing to help us.”

Much like this story, we often tend to try to do things by ourselves without asking the Lord for help. We get stressed out and overwhelmed over things that truly do not matter.

We need to remember to go to God all the time because he is our strength that will help us get through life. This life is not going to be easy. There are going to be trials and tribulations.

My prayer for us this week is that we will ask the Lord for help because he is our strength always.

Until next week, make Him famous in all that you do!
