Debra Jayne Davis Cockerham was called home by her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was lovingly known as “Shosh” to her grandchildren and throughout the community. With unwavering faith and strength, Debbie courageously fought a two-anda- half-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Her faith never wavered, and her trust in the Lord carried her through every season of life. She was immensely proud of the family she built with her loving husband of 42 years, Ronny Cockerham, and her grandchildren were truly the light of her life. Much of her time was spent at the softball fields and rodeo grounds, faithfully cheering on her grandkids and supporting them in all they loved to do. Shosh and Pap were their biggest cheerleaders. Debbie was a graduate of Teague High School, Class of 1973, and later worked for many years as a bank teller at First National Bank in Teague. She took pride in her job and cherished her special friends at the bank, creating memories that would last for a lifetime. Debbie touched countless lives through her years of service at Lawrence-Ricks Funeral Home and later Bowers Funeral Home. Helping others was her calling and passion, and she always seemed to know the right words to say in moments of sorrow and need. A devoted servant of the Lord and longtime member of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church, Debbie understood the importance of accepting Christ and shared that love with many children through her years of service teaching the children’s Sunday School Class. She lived out her faith daily, serving others with a true servant’s heart—whether delivering food, meeting needs, or simply offering comfort and prayer. Her love for Heaven and her desire to lead others to Christ was evident throughout her life. She is survived by her loving husband, Ronny Cockerham of Teague; daughter, Kayse Long and husband Jason of Fairfield; son, Chris Cockerham and wife Terra of Groesbeck; seven grandchildren Cale Myers, Brody Long, Josey Long, Preston Long, Raymie Long Hines and husband Ryan, Piper Cockerham, and Mayci Cockerham; two sisters, Margie Pate and Susie Lancaster; one brother David Davis; two sisters-in-law, Linda Ferguson and Carol Clary; one brother-in-law, Donnie Cockerham; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Pam Jordan, Mary Walker, Linda Steen, and Nancy McSwane. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Hulen Davis and Jane Davis; father and mother-in-law, Elzy Cockerham and Pearl Cockerham; one brother, John Davis; one sister-in-law Jackie Cockerham; and three brothers-in-law Jerry Cockerham, Gary Pate, and Maurice Lancaster. Serving as pallbearers will be, Chris Cockerham, Jason Long, Cale Myers, Brody Long, Preston Long, Ryan Hines, Dennis Isaacs, and Jacob Clark. Honorary Pallbearers include Danny Clyde Turner, Jim Lawrence, Richard Steen, Johnny Brown, Justin Venable, John Keith, and Garrett Whittington. Debbie’s life was a beautiful reflection of Christ’s love. Her legacy of faith, service, and unconditional love will live on in all who were blessed to know her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Freestone Cancer Support Group, P. O. Box 1522, Fairfield, TX 75840, or to Eighth Avenue Baptist Church, 201 South 8th Ave, Teague, TX 75860.
