The Wortham Bulldogs football team suffered a blowout road loss Friday night, Oct. 4. They were handled 60-30 by the Bremond Tigers. Now 3-2 overall, the loss drops Wortham’s district mark to 1-1.
Wortham fell behind 8-0 before a 70-yard touchdown throw from Jon Ross Black to Kymani Johnson put the Bulldogs on the board in the first quarter. On the ensuing two-point conversion attempt, Black connected with Evan McCoslin to tie the ballgame at 8-8. From there, Bremond scored 30 unanswered points to close out the half and took a commanding 38-8 lead into the break.
Another Bremond touchdown early in the third quarter pushed Bremond’s lead to 44-8. With 9:36 to go in the third, Wortham finally broke the Bremond scoring run with a 15-yard touchdown run by Black. A Black to Johnson connection on the ensuing two-point conversion attempt put the score at 44-16 in favor of Bremond. Wortham added two more touchdowns in the period on a 4-yard run from Black and a 59-yard touchdown throw from Black to James Johnson.
