A few lines from Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” describes the ageing trend around the world: And now, the end is near And so I face the final curtain My, friend, I’ll make it clear I’ll state my case, of which I am certain I’ve lived a life that’s full I’ve traveled each and every highway And more, much more I did it, I did it my way. This could almost be considered the anthem of the baby boom generation, which incidentally has all completely passed the age of 65, headed for the last stages of life. This generation started out hiding under our desks in an air raid drill in case the Soviets dropped an atomic bomb on the school and pledged that we would change the world for the better. However, now as we face the final curtain we are full of anxiety and pessimism wondering what it was all for. Life has mostly squeezed our sense of humor to a dried out lemon.
However, instead of living on the tail side of the coin, try the heads side where you do three simple things, maintain your weight at a healthy level, make your body move each day with activity and learn to laugh again. If you want an example, go by a grammar school during recess and watch the kids running and laughing and think that used to be me.
