TEAGUE — The Teague Police Department is encouraging residents to take simple precautions to reduce vehicle burglaries after noting an uptick in incidents in the area.
Police say many vehicle break-ins are crimes of opportunity involving unlocked vehicles or valuables left in plain view. Officers stress that residents can significantly reduce their risk by locking doors, removing or hiding valuables, and avoiding leaving keys or key fobs inside vehicles.
The department also recommends parking in well-lit areas whenever possible and reporting suspicious activity promptly so officers can respond.
