Growth doesn’t happen by being comfortable. In fact, it often happens in the places that stretch us the most. That message came to life when Dr. Danica Watson and Dr. Seth Watson of Lott Physical Therapy took on something far outside their natural skill set: competitive dancing. The pair recently participated in Dancing For Our Stars, benefiting the Navarro College Foundation.
For two physical therapists who spend their days helping others regain strength and pain-free function, dancing required them to take their own advice: step into discomfort, trust the process, and keep moving even when progress felt slow. Neither entered the competition as a natural dancer or with any dance experience outside of their wedding 11 years ago, but both embraced the challenge as an opportunity to practice what they teach.
“Doing something you’re not naturally gifted at forces you to grow in ways you don’t expect,” said Dr. Danica. “There were moments of doubt and plenty of frustration, but choosing to show up anyway, choosing to stay in the discomfort, that’s where the real progress happened.”
