DAVID RAY BROWN

Funeral services for David Ray Brown will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Bro. Scott Matthews will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held prior to the service on Thursday beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Brown passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Teague Club Lake.

David Ray Brown was born on April 6, 1959, to Tim and CeLindia Brown.

David graduated from Teague High School in 1977. On June 14, 1980, he married the love of his life, Leslie, and together they shared more than 45 wonderful years of marriage.

In 1979, David began his career with Texas Utilities Big Brown Mine where he worked faithfully until his retirement in 2015. After retiring, David briefly worked at Teague Auto Parts before joining the bus barn crew at Teague Independent School District as a mechanic. He enjoyed his work there and remained until retiring again in December 2021.

David had a deep love for the outdoors and adventure. He enjoyed both water skiing and snow skiing, riding motorcycles and bicycles, running, hunting, fishing and traveling. In his spare time, he was teaching himself to play the guitar. He had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his many beloved dogs and his two cats. David loved the Christmas season, especially Christmas music which he listened to yearround. It was a time of year that brought him great joy.

Above all, David loved his wife, Leslie. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and treasured memories.

David was a member of First Baptist Church in Teague and a member of the Boggy Lodge #739.

David is survived by his loving wife, Leslie Brown; his sister, Nancy and husband Marshall McSwane; his sister-inlaw, Dana and husband Tim Pate; nieces and nephews; Vicky and husband, Brad Donnell, Marsha and husband Martin Black, Georgiana McSwane, Marc Pate, Rachel Pate and Aaron Pellowski as well as greatnieces and nephews, Emery and Parker Black and Maverick and Murphy Pate. He is also survived by many dear friends whom he loved greatly.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Tim and CeLindia Brown; his brother, Stephen Brown; his grandmother, Aline Petty; his in-laws, Jerrell and Mary Sartor and grandmother inlaw Laura Red.

David will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his adventurous spirit, and the deep love he had for his family, friends, and animals. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers! the family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church in Teague, or the Teague Railroad Museum.
