The Fairfield Eagles advanced to the Regional Championship for the first time since 1966 this past week. The Eagles faced the Orangefield Bobcats on Friday night, March 6, in the Regional Championship at Livingston High School at 7:00 p.m. Fairfield ISD released school at 2:16 p.m. on Friday to allow fans time to travel to the game.
“I am extremely proud of these boys. None of this would be possible if they didn’t have the dedication and perseverance all year long,” Coach Tyler Terry said. “It means a lot to make it to the Regional Championship for sure. It wasn’t always easy for them. We had many ups and downs along the way, but that is what makes it that much more special.”
The Eagles got off to a slow start and found themselves down by 14 points in the first quarter, 22-8. However, they went on a 6-0 run at the end of the quarter to make it a 22-14 game. The Bobcats took a 39-33 lead at halftime.
