Jonathan Hardin Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Mexia, proudly honored Cross Creek Meadows Therapeutic Riding and Retreat Center in Thornton with a Community Service Award at our chapter meeting on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Accepting the award from Regent Patti Gauntt were Darla Wurtz, Founder, and Kay Alston, Board Member.

Jonathan Hardin Chapter Community Service Committee, chaired by Honorary Regent Nancy McSwane, was honored to recommend this organization that has contributed to their community in an outstanding manner in their service to veterans, adults, children, and others benefiting from physical, mental, and emotional support through equine therapy.

The first qualification for this award is a contribution to the community in an outstanding manner through voluntary, heroic, civic, benevolent service, or by organizing or participating in community activities. Congressman Pete Sessions and Beth Harrison, Veteran and Chapter Treasurer, submitted letters of recommendation for Cross Creek Meadows.
