Funeral services for Betty Joyce (Whitley-Sirkel) McCeig, age 76, of Dew, TX, were held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Bowers Funeral Home. Rev. Ronnie Dabney officiated. Visitation was held on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home. Mrs. McCeig returned to our Lord and Savior on April 14, 2026, surrounded by her family in Teague, TX at the age of 76. Betty was born to Ivy Ollen Whitley and Martha (Beldin) Whitley on October 23, 1949, in the back room of Grandma and Grandpa Beldin’s farmhouse in Wortham, TX. She spent many summer days playing there with a slew of siblings and cousins. Many memories were made and cherished at that old house. She grew up in Mexia, Texas and spent the majority of her life in the Tri Couty and Central Texas area managing various Jims Krispy Chicken restaurants for her brother-in-law and sister, Jim and JoAnn as well as working nights for many years at the Mexia State School alongside her sister Pauline. She spent her later years residing in the peaceful countryside of Dew. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 17 years and father to her children, Alford Sirkel; husband and amazing stepfather to her children, Don McCeig; sister, JoAnn Hughes & husband Jim; brothers, Olen Whitley & wife Betty and Mark Whitley; nephew, Lance Whitley; and great niece, Brooke Parson. Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Ivy Harris and Pauline Parson & husband Leland; brother, Randy Whitley; cousin/ sister, Rita Jones & husband Mike; daughters, Jennifer Schmidt & husband Jason, Brandy Weinmann & husband Brody, all of Dew, TX, and Sarah Carpenter & husband Robert of Katy, TX. Grandchildren, Thomas Dycus III & Cashlee Snow, Whitney Dycus & Josh Monks, Allison Dycus, Alexzandrea Schmidt & Chance Bartkowiak, Alahnna Schmidt, Tristan Lane & Gracelynn Dawson, Berrett Weinmann, Kiersan Weinmann, Brandyn Carpenter, Annabel Carpenter and Wyatt Carpenter Great-grandchildren, Kyler Dycus, Maddixson Dycus, Thomas Dycus IV, Leighton Monks and Brycen Carpenter along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Special thanks to those who assisted in her final days. There is not enough love and thank you’s that we could send your way, Brooklyn Warmke, Holly Molina, Natalie Hughes and Leslie Croft. She adored each of you and thought of you as daughters. We could not have made it through all of this without you.
