Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to a wreck on State Highway 75 near Country Road-660, north of Dew, about 4:40 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19.

The preliminary investigation, according to DPS reports, determined the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado traveling south left the roadway and struck a tree, causing the vehicle to become fully engulfed in flames. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have not been notified. DPS cautions drivers to “Stay focused and stay safe when driving. Distracted driving can lead to a car crash; whether it’s texting, eating, or adjusting the radio, taking your attention off of the road for just a second can potentially put you in danger.”
