More than 300 students earned their degrees at Doane’s spring commencement, held Saturday, May 16, 2026 on Doane University’s Crete campus. This year’s morning and afternoon ceremonies featured a temporary location change from Cassel Theatre to Memorial Stadium’s Al Papik Field due to accessibility, logistical and safety concerns regarding ongoing construction of the Performing Arts Center.
During his commencement address, Brad Moline, founder of Allo Communications, emphasized the importance of honesty and community. Luis Rejano Candau ’26, who had just walked the stage minutes earlier to receive his bachelor’s degree in exercise science, also touched on community during his closing reflection. Specifically, aside from the weather, Doane became a second home to the Sevilla, Spain native. So much so, that Candau announced he’s already working toward his Master of Business Administration degree at Doane while serving as a graduate assistant for the soccer team.
Candau was one of the more than 190 undergraduates from the Crete campus who received their bachelor’s degree during the afternoon ceremony. The morning ceremony awarded more than 100 degrees to undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students from Doane’s online program or Lincoln campus.
