The Fairfield Lady Eagles saw their season come to an end on Thursday night, Nov. 7, at West High School as the Grandview Lady Zebras knocked-off the Lady Eagles in five sets. Fairfield finishes the season with an overall record of 29-13.
“Obviously, we hoped to go further this season, but deep down we knew we had a lot of work to do to get there. For lack of a better word, it was somewhat of a rebuilding year. I am extremely proud of the buyin of these girls,” coach Kelly Ridge said. “I came in as a new coach to the volleyball program after almost 20 years, and I changed a lot. They believed in the process and absorbed everything I taught them along the way. That’s all I could ask for, so to say I’m proud of this team and program would be an understatement.”
Grandview came out and took the first two sets 25-16 and 25-22. However, a determined Fairfield team came back to win the next two sets 25-19 and 25-16 to force a fifth set.
