The Wortham Bulldogs ensured they would be entering the postseason on a high note Friday, Nov. 8. The Bulldogs won their football regular season finale in convincing fashion in Hubbard by a final score of 66-14.
Wortham piled up the points in the first half and enjoyed a 58-0 lead by halftime. Bulldogs quarterback Jon Ross Black tied his own single-game school record with six touchdown passes – a record he set the previous week in a win over Chilton. He completed 14-of-20 passes for 189 and did not throw an interception. Wide receiver Kymani Jones caught three of Black’s touchdown passes. Yancey Bean caught two touchdowns, and Evan McCoslin also hauled in a scoring pass from Black.
On the ground, the Bulldogs offense amassed 176 rushing yards on 23 carries. McCoslin paced the club with 45 yards on five carries and one touchdown. Kross Montgomery and Jesse Saldana each rushed for a touchdown as well for Wortham.
