The Fairfield Eagles defeated the Teague Lions 1-0 in their final district game on Tuesday, April 23, to finish second place in district play behind Franklin. Groesbeck took the third place seed as Mexia grabbed the fourth place seed. The Eagles enter the playoffs with an overall record of 18-8 and a district record of 9-5.
It was a pitching duel between Fairfield’s Rowdy Hand and Teague’s Bo Bowers. The difference came in the top of the sixth inning when the Eagles managed to score one run, which was enough to bring home the 1-0 road win. Fairfield will take on the Little River Academy Bumblebees in a Bi-Distirct Championship series this week. Game 1 was held at Axtell High School Wednesday, May 1, at 6 p.m. Game 2 will be held at Axtell High School on Friday, May 3, at 5 p.m. Game 3, if needed, will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, at Axtell High School.
