Freestone County commissioners studied the election results Monday, Nov. 18, as they canvassed the votes cast in the Nov. 5 General Election.

At that same meeting, the commissioners used ARPA funds to bid out two brush-cutters; and approved a motor fuels tax exemption.

In other matters, the commissioners agreed to keep the burn ban lifted.

Also during the meeting, the commissioners agreed to donate three filing cabinets from the elections administrator’s office to the city of Streetman.

“These are some that are of no use to us,” County Judge Linda Grant said, “so we can transfer that without any issue at all.”

On a different subject, Elections Administrator Reneé McBay gave copies of the Nov. 5 election results to each commissioner for them to review. After studying the printouts for some time, the commissioners approved the results.

In other business, the commissioners approved bidding out a 12=foot brush-cutter and a 44-inch Mini X Brush Cutter for Precinct 3 using ARPA funds.

Also using ARPA funds, the court agreed to buy a 2024 Ford F150 crew cab pickup truck for county use in the amount of $50,247 and a 2025 Silverado 3500 work truck for Precinct 4 in the amount of $71,692.

In a separate move, the court approved a motor fuels tax exemption since they agreed doing so would be in the best interest of the county and its taxpayers.
