The Fairfield Eagles competed in their own tournament Dec. 12-14 and went 2-3 over the weekend to move to 3-6 on the season.
Fairfield fell to the Athens Hornets in their first game on Thursday, Dec. 12, 71-60. DaVonte Alexander led the way for the Eagles with 14 points. Keyshawn Turner added 12 points, Jaevion McElroy 8, Madden McElroy 7, Airen Roberts 5, Kohl Collins, Joshua George and Manny Brown 4 each, and Kavion Hicks 2.
The Eagles then took on the Bullard and fell to the Panthers 67-56. Madden McElroy led the way for Fairfield with 14 points. Collins added 8 points, Alexander 7, Connor Colvert and Turner 6 each, Hicks and Will Zachary 4 apiece, Brown 3 , and George and Roberts 2 each.
On Friday, Dec, 13, Fairfield defeated the Brewer Bears, 54-49. Madden Melroy led the way for the Eagles with 13 points. Turner added 12 points, Collins 9, Hicks and Alexander 5 apiece, George and Colvert 4 each, and Zachary 2.
The Eagles then defeated the Maypearl Panthers 63-51.Collins led the way for Fairfield with 13 points. Zachary added 12 points, Colvert and Turner 8 each, Alexander 6, George 4, Jason Brackens and Madden McElroy 3 apiece, and Eli Owen, Roberts, and Brown 2 each.
Fairfield lost a heartbreaker by one-point on Saturday, Dec. 14, to the Connally Cougars, 70-69. Madden McElroy led the way for the Eagles with 24 points. Turner and Alexander added 10 points apiece, Colvert 7, Collins and Hicks 4 each, George and Brown 3 apiece, and Roberts and Zachary 2 each.
Fairfield began district play with Groesbeck on Tuesday, Dec. 17. The Eagles will compete in the Houston County Tournament Dec. 26 -28.
