Freestone County commissioners continue to spend down ARPA funds, aiming to deplete them by the deadline of Dec. 31, so the county does not lose any available funding.
The commissioners worked on this task during their Dec. 9 meeting, when they also kept the burn ban lifted, approved buying security cameras for the DA’s office, and a truck for Precinct 1, and made other decisions regarding the county’s finances and well-being.
As for the American Rescue Plan Act funds, which were distributed by the federal government following the COVID-19 epidemic, the court agreed to use another portion to purchase security cameras for the district attorney’s office and the sheriff’s office dispatch.
