The Fairfield Eagles defeated the Groesbeck Goats 101-52 in their district-opener Tuesday, Dec. 17. The Eagles move to 4-6 overall and 1-0 in district play.
Fairfield took a 28-12 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. The Eagles outscored the Goats 19-7 in the second quarter 47-19 lead at halftime.
Fairfield came out in the third quarter and put 28 points on the board as Groesbeck scored 19 points to make it a 75-38 game going into the final quarter of play. The Eagles outscored the Goats 26-14 in the fourth quarter for the huge 101-52 home win.
Keyshawn Turner led the way for the Eagles with 14 points. Madden McElroy added 13 points, Eli Owen and Connor Colvert 12 each, Davonte Alexander 9, Joshua George 8, Jason Brackens and Kavion Hicks 7 apiece, Airen Roberts and Will Zachary 5 each, Kohl Collins and Manny Brown 4 apiece, and Jaevion McElory 1.
Fairfield will compete in the Houston County Tournament on Dec. 26-28 before hosting the Mexia Blackcats in district play on Friday, Jan. 3.
