Dr. Kelli Moore was named the new Fairfield ISD assistant superintendent during the December school board meeting. Moore will be taking over for Dr. Mickie Jackson, who is retiring at the end February 2025.
Moore has her Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University and a Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership from Abilene Christian University.
Moore has served as an instructional coach as well as a principal in her administrative roles in education. She comes to Fairfield ISD after serving as the principal at Buffalo Lower Junior High the past six years.
“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve the Fairfield district and community,” Moore said.
The board also voted to hire Edye Gillen-Hall for eighth-grade English language arts/reading and Laura Meister for high school culinary through the end of the school year.
FISD Superintendent Joe Craig recognized the winners of the district’s Christmas card contest held on each campus.
Winners were FES Caydence Smith, FIS - Hope Walmsley, and FJH - Bryndle Daniel. Head Football Coach John Bachtel also recognized the football players who earned All-District honors.
The board heard the district’s financial audit report in which there were no negative findings. The district was able to put funds into its fund balance.
Natalie Clopton and Michelle Welch gave a presentation to the board based on what has been discussed by the Long Range Facilities Planning Committee. Their recommendation is to build a new high school and auditorium, and then a junior high where the current high school sits.
The board approved the Interlocal agreement with ESC Region 10 buying cooperative, which allows Child Nutrition director Crystal Thill to get best prices for child nutrition food purchases.
The board approved the updated GT Plan as well as the House Bill 3 goals for early childhood education.
The board approved a $300 stipend for Academic UIL coaches at the elementary, intermediate and junior high. The high school coaches have already been receiving a stipend.
