Lady Eagles defeat Mexia 43-31

The Fairfield Lady Eagles defeated the Mexia Ladycats on Friday, Jan. 3, 43-31. The win moves the Lady Eagles to 5-0 in district play and 16-4 overall.

Mexia led 7-6 during the first quarter of play. However, Fairfield went on a 6-0 run to end the quarter with a 12-7 lead. The Lady Eagles outscored the Ladycats 16-7 in the second quarter to take a 28-14 lead at halftime.

Both teams came out in the third quarter and put nine points on the board as Fairfield took a 37-23 lead into the final quarter of play. The Ladycats outscored the Lady Eagles 8-6 in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough as Fairfield took the 43-31 home win.

Jaci Abram led the way for the Lady Eagles with 13 points. Kaylee Williams added 10 points, Blayke Brackens 7, Kole Brackens and Jimilyah Nash 4 each, Delaney McGowan 3, and Jacelynn Schmidt 2.

Fairifeld played Elkhart on Tuesday, Jan. 7. The Lady Eagles will host Westwood on Friday, Jan. 10, before starting the second round of district play Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Teague.
