The Fairfield Eagles fell to the Mexia Blackcats on Friday night, Jan. 3, 93-61 in district play. The loss moves the Eagles to 1-1 in district play and 6-11 overall.
Mexia took a 21-10 lead in the first quarter of play. The Blackcats outscored the Eagles 24-11 in the second quarter to extend their lead to 45-21 at halftime.
Mexia came out in the third quarter and put 28 points on the board as Fairfield scored 22 points to make it a 73-43 game going into the final quarter of play. The Blackcats outscored the Eagles 20-18 in the fourth quarter to take home the 9361 road win.
Keyshawn Turner led the way with 15 points. Manny Brown added 11 points, Kohl Collins 8, Joshua George 6, Davonte Alexander 5, Madden McElroy 4, and Jason Brackens, Kavion Hicks, Conner Colvert, Airen Roberts, Jaevion McElroy, and Will Zachry 2 each. Fairifeld played Elkhart on Tuesday, Jan. 7. The Eagles will host Westwood on Friday, Jan. 10, and will travel to Teague next Tuesday, Jan. 14, to take on the Lions.
