Trust in the Lord with all of your heart

It sure got cold over the weekend. I hope everyone is staying nice and warm. At the time of writing this, there was snow in the forecast on Tuesday. I feel like a little kid wishing it would snow some this year.

Can you believe that the month of January is almost over already? February is right around the corner. Basketball playoffs are among us. I love the atmosphere of the basketball playoff games. Before we know it, spring break and summer will be here too.

Katy and I enjoyed a very relaxing weekend. It was much needed for sure. The weekends seem to go by way too fast.

Things happen in life that we sometimes don’t understand. We want to know the “why”, but sometimes we will never know.

There may be a diagnosis that we are a loved one receives. There may be an unexpected death all of a sudden. Financial burdens may arise. The list can go on and on.

One thing that I have learned over the years is that I can not worry myself to death. Do I still worry about things at times? Yes, but not near as bad as I used to. We have to trust in the Lord and believe that he has a plan for us even though sometimes we may not understand it or have all the answers.

I read an article the other day about worrying. It gave six practical steps to combat worrying. They are to pray, focus on God’s attributes, learn from others, be aware of Satan’s schemes, focus on eternity, and trust Jesus!

The best way to begin not worrying should not begin with us; it begins with Jesus. We must look to Jesus and build a relationship with Him, and as His promises unfold before us, we will see His faithfulness. Then and only by Jesus, our worries will begin to fade.

This week’s Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6. It says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

We do not have to understand everything that happens in life. I don’t have all the answers to all the questions, but I do know that I have faith in my God. We must always trust in him with all of our heart because he will never leave us.

One day when we pass on from this earth, we will have the opportunity to spend eternity with him in Heaven if we have accepted him as our personal Lord and Savior.

My prayer for us this week is that we will always trust in the Lord with all of our heart. Until next week, make Him famous in all that you do!
