Lady Eagles dominate Teague, Buffalo

The Fairfield Lady Eagles basketball team dominated Teague and Buffalo this past week to remain undefeated in district play. Fairfield moves to 23-5 and 8-0 in district play.

On Tuesday, Jan. 14, Fairfield traveled to Teague and brought home a 63-28 victory over the Lady Lions to begin the second round of district play.

The Lady Eagles jumped out to a 16-4 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Fairfield outscored Teague 17-4 in the second quarter to take a 33-8 lead at halftime.

The Lady Eagles came out in the third quarter and put 19 points on the board while holding the Lady Lions to just eight to increase their lead to 52-16 going into the final quarter of play. Teague outscored Fairfield 12-11 in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t nearly enough as the Lady Eagles took the big district win, 63-28.

Blayke Brackens led the way for the Lady Eagles with 19 points and Jimilyah Nash added 16 points.

Fairfield then hosted Buffalo on Friday, Jan. 17, and took a 58-15 win over the Lady Bison. The Lady Eagles took a 20-8 lead over the Lady Bison in the first quarter of play. Fairfield scored 15 points in the second quarter and held Buffalo to just a basket to make it a 35-10 game at halftime.

The Lady Eagles put 15 points on the board in the third quarter and held the Lady Bison to just a basket to make it a 50-12 game going into the final quarter of play. Fairfield outscored Buffalo 8-2 in the fourth quarter for the 58-15 home win.

Brackens led the way for Fairfield with 17 points and Kaylee Williams contributed with 15 points. Nash also reached double figures in scoring with 10 points in the Fairfield win.

Fairfield traveled to Groesbeck for a showdown with the Lady Goats on Tuesday, Jan. 21. The Lady Eagles have a bye night on Friday, Jan. 24, before they travel to Mexia next Tuesday, Jan. 28, to take on the Lady Cats.
