Seven years ago on Feb. 2, 2018, Katy and I went out on a triple date at Rancho in Teague with Michael & Melissa Grissett and Jeremy & Adrian Little. We enjoyed dinner together and then Katy and I stayed in the parking lot for a while talking. The rest is history. There have been mountains and valleys over the past seven years, but I am so thankful that God gave me Katy as my wife. We have been through a lot, especially with COVID, but we keep pushing on as we try to draw closer to Christ.
On Thursday night, I attended the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce’s annual awards banquet. It was a great night as area individuals and businesses were honored for their contributions to the community. The theme was the “Somewhere over the Rainbow” Basketball playoffs are just around the corner so get ready for all of the exciting games. I love the playoffs and the atmosphere of the games. It is totally different than a season game.
This week’s Bible verse is James 1:2-4. It says, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
This life that we live on earth is not going to be easy. There are going to be good times and there are going to be bad times. We must persevere through those times in order to grow closer to Christ.
This earth is only our temporary home. The things that we struggle with and worry about are not that large when looking at the big picture. We must have a relationship with Christ so that we can spend eternity with him. We are not promised tomorrow on this earth, but we are promised tomorrow in Heaven for eternity.
My prayer for us this week is that we will persevere through whatever may come our way and that we will grow closer to Christ. Until next week, make Him famous in all that you do!
