Love because he first loved us

There is a lot of sickness that is going around. I hope everyone is feeling better. There was so much sickness going around that Fairfield and Teague shut down on Friday, Jan. 31. There was other schools that shutdown due to sickness as well.

Basketball playoffs are here. I love going to the games and covering them. The atmosphere is the best as we cheer on our team. I just wish we would cheer on the Lord as much as we cheer on sports teams.

Valentine’s Day is Friday, February 14. I pray that we all will remember to love those around us and especially our spouse. Life isn’t perfect and it will never be.

This world that we live in is full of chaos. No one is perfect and we never will be perfect on this Earth. God has called us to love others because he first loved us.

Four years ago at this time, I was sitting in the hospital parking lot praying for my wife and that she would get better so she could come home. That was the longest week ever, but she finally got to come home for me to hug and take care of while she recovered after spending seven days in ICU with COVID pneumonia.

When things get difficult, please remember to turn to God because he will help us get through anything that this life may throw at us.

This week’s Bible verse is 1 John 4:19. It says, “We love because he first loved us.”

As we go through this week, take the time to show others around you the love of Christ. It is amazing how far a little word of encouragement will go.

My prayer for us this week is that we will love others always and show them God’s love. Until next week, make him famous in all that you do!
