The Fairfield Lady Eagles defeated the Mexia Ladycats last Tuesday, Jan. 28, 52-32 to move to 25-5 overall and 10-0 in district play.
Fairfield took a 19-8 lead in the first quarter of play and never looked back. The Lady Eagles outscored the Lady Cats 13-3 in the second quarter to take a 32-11 lead at halftime.
Fairfield came out in the third quarter and put 14 points on the board while holding Mexia to just 8 to make it a 46-19 game going into the final quarter of play. The Lady Cats outscored the Lady Eagles 15-6 in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough as Fairfielad brought home the 52-32 road win.
Blayke Brackens led the way for the Lady Eagles with 20 points. Jacelynn Schmidt added 10 points, Kaylee Williams 8, Jimilyah Nash 6, and Jaci Abram, Samone Garrett, Rhett Ralstin, and Addison Posey 2 each.
Fairfield´s Friday night game against Elkhart was moved to Monday, Feb. 3, due to the school being shut down due to sickness. The Lady Eagles wrappedup district play on Tuesday, Feb. 4, on the road in Westwood.
Fairfield will travel to Ponder to take on the Lady Lions on Friday, Feb. 7, in a warm-up game at 5 p.m. before starting their playoff run next week.
