Both the Fairfield Eagles and Lady Eagles won the Darrell Piske Memorial Powerlifting Meet held in Fairfield on Thursday, Jan. 30.
¨I am very proud of this group,” Head Coach Kevin Childers said. “The boys have some of our lifters rehabbing knee injuries from football and our girls are reloading. These lifters have really stepped up.
This year there are a total of 30 powerlifters for Fairfield High School. Assisting Childers this year are John Bachtel, Joel Kuel, Mackenzie Harris, Max McGeary, Jeremy Colvert, TJ McVeay, and Jana Childers.
Throughout the evening, coaches were seen celebrating with their athletes.
“When those kids hit personal records, they have accomplished something that they didn’t know they could and that’s pretty special,” Childers said.
Childers thanks all the volunteers that helped run the powerlifting meet.
¨We put on the most efficient meets of anyone,” Childers said. “That is all because of our judges, volunteers that work the tables and our spotters and loaders. Their efforts contribute greatly to our success.”
