Dedrick Lewayne Isadore, 50, of Teague, has been arrested and is being held at Freestone County Jail for the incident on Monday, Jan. 13, involving a possible improvised explosive device (IED) and threats to harm law enforcement.
He is being charged with having a prohibited weapon. This case is being referred to the Freestone County Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
The Teague Police Department became aware of threats against officers about 8:20 a.m. Jan. 13. Specifically, threats were relayed to the Teague PD that an individual was “going to blow up the police when they come back…” Officers drove by the residence of the suspected person and observed what was believed to be an IED, which showed up immediately after the threat was made.
McLennan County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit was contacted and responded for assistance with the suspected IED. Bureau of Alcoho, Tobacco and Firearms, Texas Department of Public Safety, Freestone County Attorney’s Office, Freestone County Sheriff’s Office, Freestone County Constable Precinct 2 Constable, Teague Emergency Medical Services and Teague VFD assisted Teague police with planning, evacuation of area residents, and securing of the area for the special operations unit to perform procedures to eliminate any threat to public safety.
A search warrant was executed for the property and the Special Operations Unit safely dismantled the device. No one was injured or harmed.
