Cousins Blayke and Kole Brackens enjoy playing on the court together for the Lady Eagles.
“To play with Kole means a lot, on and off the court it’s just a lot of fun,” Blayke said. “We are basically always together and just to get to be on the court playing basketball again is very nostalgic.”
Blayke, a junior, is a 6-foot-0 forward for Fairifeld, and Kole, a sophomore, is a 5-8 post.
“It means a lot to get to play with Blayke, something I’ve always thought about through the years and it has finally happened. I’m looking forward to next year with her as well,” Kole said. “We are excited how far we have come this basketball season and are praying we can finish it out in San Antonio on Friday.”
The two were able to enjoy playing basketball together growing up through Little Dribblers.
“We grew up together, and especially when we were younger we were always together,” Blayke said. “She’s really come a long way and made a lot of progress in her game so playing with her has been amazing. It’s just great to see how far she’s come and how far we’ve come from when we were little.
Kole noted that when they are not on the court, they are very humorous and have a lot of fun, but on the court it’s a lot more serious because they know what needs to be done.
Blayke is the daughter of Tony Jr. and Candace Brackens. Kole is the daughter of Charkeith and Felicia Brackens.
“We are just a great team. Our bond is unlike any other team I’ve been on. There’s no drama between any of the players and the amount of fun we can have is surreal,” Blayke said. “We will have fun anywhere no matter the circumstances and I think that plays a big part in our connections on and off the court.”
