After being defeated in the Regional Championship by one point last season, the Lady Eagles are back at state again this year with another championship on their mind.
The Lady Eagles entered the playoffs with a 27-6 overall record. Their six losses were to Martins Mills, 50-42; Burnet, 53-48; Little River Academy, 52-42; Randall, 61-53; Jim Ned, 43-30; and Ponder, 45-35.
Fairfield made it look easy this season, dominating everyone in district play and claiming the District 20-3A title with an undefeated 12-0 district record.
The Lady Eagles defeated the Franklin Lady Lions in Bi-District Championship at Leon High School, 73-40.
Jacelynn Schmidt led the way for the Lady Eagles with 18 points. Blayke Brackens and Kaylee Williams added 14 each, Jaci Abram 8, Delaney Mc-Gowan and Jimilyah Nash 6 apiece, KeKe Alexander 4, and Kole Brackens 3.
In the Area Championship, Fairfield knocked off the Grandview Lady Zebras 51-39 in overtime at Corsicana High School.
J. Nash and Schmidt led the way for Fairfield with 11 points each. B. Brackens and Williams added 10 points apiece, Abram 4, and Alexander, K. Brackens, and Rhett Ralstin 2 each.
In the Regional Semifinals, the Lady Eagles defeated the Hitchcock Lady Bulldogs 46-33 at Conroe High School. This was the fourth year in a row Fairfield has defeated Hitchcock in the Regional Semfinals.
J. Nash led the way for the Lady Eagles with 14 points. Abram added 11 points, B. Brackens 9, Schmidt 6, Williams and K. Brackens 2 each, and Alexander and Mc-Gowan 1 apiece.
Fairfield took on the Little River Academy Lady Bees in the Regional Finals at Midway High School and brought home a 61-43 win to claim the Region III 3A, Division I title and advance to the Final 4 along with Jim Ned, Winnsboro, and Corpus Christi West Oso.
Schmidt led the way for Fairfield with 16 points. Williams added 14 points, J. Nash 11, B. Brackens and Abram 6 each, Alexander and Posey 3 apiece, and K. Brackens 2.
