We will fail, but God is our strength

MITCH’S CORNER

Summer is officially underway after graduation ceremonies were held this past week. I want to wish all of the graduates the best in all of their future endeavors. It has been an honor watching the Freestone County graduates grow over the past few years.

The 102nd celebration of the Freestone County Fair and Rodeo is just a little over a week away. There will be plenty of fun and entertainment at the W.L. Moody Reunion Grounds in Fairfield June 10-15.

There will be kiddos showing their projects all throughout the week. Carnival rides will be available each afternoon and night. There are some great musicians that will be at the fair this year as well and admission is free.

The beauty pageants will be held June 8 and June 11. Make plans to bring out your family and friends multiple times throughout the week for this Freestone County tradition.

I have had the privilege of talking to several students about their projects. It is amazing the time and effort that they have to spend every single day with their animals to make sure they are ready to show.

I’m so thankful that we live in such a supportive community that comes out and supports them during the fair week and also purchases their projects.

This week’s Bible verse is Psalm 73:26. It says, “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” We are human beings and we will never be perfect. We are going to fail time and time again.

We can only strive to be more Christ-like each and every day in this chaotic world that we live in.

I just finished my 13th year in education and will be starting my 14th year come August. I am thankful and blessed for every single student that I have taught and can’t wait to teach all the ones in the future.

I pray that I can have a lasting impact on my students that I have in my classroom. I know many of my students have blessed me and put a smile on my face when I needed it.

I pray that everyone gets the rest they need this summer to come back in August ready to roll.

My prayer for us this week is that we know that God is our strength forever. Until next week, make him famous in all that you do!
