It was a special morning for five Fairfield High School students on Friday morning, Feb. 21, as they were presented with their 2024 State Champion Ring during a special presentation.

Newton Hartley received his ring for being the 2024 UIL Computer Science State Champion. He soared to victory by missing only one question on the 40-question test at the 3A level.

Blake Phillips earned a ring for being the State Champion in Senior Prepared Animal Science Public Speaking. He took home the gold at the Texas FFA State level, competing against 12 other talented individuals. What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that FFA contests don’t divide by school size, making this an even greater accomplishment.

Landon Salinas won the 2024 State Powerlifting Champion title. He had a squat of 700 pounds, bench of 500 pounds, and deadlift of 525 points for a total of 1,725 pounds.

The girls’ 4x200m relay team was awarded their State Champion rings as well. Blayke Brackens (2nd leg) and Na’Kayla Conner (4th leg) received their rings. Madox Micthell (1st leg), Avery Thaler (3rd leg), and Kennedy Lane (alternate) also earned a ring, but are now in college. Mitchael plays softball at the University of Houston.
