Eight Lady Eagles competed in the Region 3 - 3A Large Schools Regional Powerlifting Meet at Commerce High School on Saturday, March 1, and brought home a third place finish out of 20 schools. Fairfield earned 22 points behind Winnsboro with 41 points and Palestine Westwood 22 points. There were a total of 130 lifters at the meet.
Three of the lifters, Callie Morgan, Riley Stone, and Bry Willis advanced to the State Meet, which will be held next Thursday, March 13, in Edinburg at 1 p.m.
“These young ladies exceeded expectations by placing third as a team and bringing home a third place trophy,” Coach Kevin Childers said. “They are carrying the tradition of the Fairfield girls powerlifting program very well.”
Riley Stone grabbed the gold in the 105 division with a squat of 275 pounds, bench press of 180 pounds, and deadlift of 290 pounds for a total of 745 pounds. She also earned the Outstanding Bench Award. Auren Adams placed fourth place in the class with a squat of 205 pounds, bench press of 100 pounds, and deadlift of 220 pounds for a total of 525 pounds.
In the 114 class, MacKenzie Allen garnered fifth place with a squat of 245 pounds, bench press of 145 pounds, and deadlift of 235 pounds for a total of 625 pounds.
Taylor Solis took eighth place in the 123 division with a squat of 280 pounds, bench press of 145 pounds, and a deadlift of 215 pounds for a total of 640 pounds.
Aaryn Morgan competed in the 132 class, but bombed out, meaning she was not successful with any of the three attempts.
In the 148 class, Bry Willis grabbed second place with a squat of 315 pounds, bench press of 170 pounds, and deadlift of 320 pounds for a total of 805 pounds.
RaeAnne Rossiky placed tenth in the 220 division with a squat of 275 pounds, bench press of 155 pounds, and deadlift of 300 pounds for a total of 730 pounds.
In the 242 class, Callie Morgan brought home the gold with a squat of 390 pounds, bench press of 225 pounds, and deadlift of 360 pounds for a total of 975 pounds.
