Jonathan Hardin Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, recently gifted about 50 patriotic books to the Faith Academy of Freestone in Fairfield in celebration of the United States’ upcoming 250th birthday (semi-sesquicentennial) on July 4, 2026.
The books were chosen for a variety of reading levels from picture books to young adult and up levels. The students browsed through the books after the presentation, and chapter members were excited to have the opportunity to share more about the books. Jonathan Hardin chapter has received positive feedback from teachers on input from their students regarding the books.
These books were made possible by a Celebration Grant from NSDAR President General and fellow Texan, Pamela Rouse Wright, as well as monetary donations by chapter members in memory of their own Revolutionary patriots. Labels were placed on the inside front cover of each book with patriot names listed. The committee’s goal was to get these books into the hands of the students in order to broaden their understanding of the events of this time period, as well as the men and women who fought for our freedom 250 years ago.
