Good news, bad news on the lake

This week’s report has one of those “Good News & Bad News” scenarios with the Good News being that the White Bass and Hybrid Stripers are now showing up on the Main Lake and we will soon be loading the ice chest with lots of both! The Bad News is that Mother Nature has decided we don’t need to be on the Lake as often as we want too as the WINDS and some rain has made the forecast tough for the beginning of Spring Break Week! As much as we hate to call off a fishing trip, over the past 25 years we have learned to respect the weather and always err on the side of safety when it comes to battling the elements on Lake Richland Chambers.

White Bass are being caught way up the Creeks by bank fishermen who have access to the shallow water where the fish migrate to spawn in the Spring. However, a large number of fish spawn on the Wind-Blown Main Lake Points where a current is simulated. These are the fish we catch every Spring in the 20’-30’ feet water on Slabs and Jigs while fishing the Points, Pelican Island and the 309 Flats. The best way to locate the schools of fish is to use your electronics, but always keep your eyes open for the Gulls and Terns chasing the Shad. The absolute best days normally include a little cloud cover, light South Breeze and mild temperatures. Get ready to enjoy April and May as it just doesn’t get much better than these two months! Our Spring calendar is just about full, but as of this report we have the following Spring dates with a boat available....March 24 & 31, April 14, May 19 thru 22 and 28 thru 30. We also keep a “Will Call” List as we always have a few cancels. Give us a call or email and We’ll Go Fishin’! Royce & Adam Simmons Gone Fishin’ Guide Service 903-389-4117
