The Fairfield Lady Eagles defeated the Buffalo Lady Bison 7-1 on Friday, March 14, to move to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in district play.
The Lady Eagles took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Evelyn Fultz walked and later scored on a Madison High single. Ridge bunted for Fairfield and reached on an error and later scored on a Hadlie Morrison bunt. High scored the third run of the inning on a sacrifi ce fly by Haylee Allen.
Buffalo scored their lone run in the top of the third inning to make it a 3-1 game.
The Lady Eagles scored three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to increase their lead to 6-1. Ryleigh Lane tripled to center field and scored on a bunt by High. Cadence Webster singled to right field to score High and also scored herself due to errors by Buffalo.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Allen walked and later scored on a passed ball to give Fairfield a 7-1 lead.
Allen pitched for the Lady Eagles and struck out nine batters and gave up three hits.
Fairfield had four hits in their win over Buffalo. The Lady Bison had three errors in the game to the Lady Eagles one error.
Fairfield played Elkhart on Tuesday night, March 18. The Lady Eagles will host the Groesbeck Lady Goats this Friday, March 21, before traveling to Teague next Tuesday, March 25, to take on the Lady Lions.
