Freestone County cities showing fiscal growth

Streetman continues to have a great year, financially, having received $8,457 in sales tax back from the state comptroller in March. That’s a 57.6% increase over the same period last year.

Streetman continues to have a great year, financially, having received $8,457 in sales tax back from the state comptroller in March.

That’s a 57.6% increase over the same period last year. Year-to-date Streetman has collected $37,382 – an 83.17% increase over last year.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar sent $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations in March to taxing entities, a 10.1% increase. The allocations are based on sales made in January and reported in February.

All Freestone County cities showed are showing growth this year.

Fairfield, the county’s largest city, is up 1.94%, having received $686,285 compared to $673,211 last year. However, Fairfield was a little down, 1.77%, in its monthly total of $193,420.

Teague has been steady all year. The city gained 30.7% over last year, $76,840 compared to $58,788 last March. Yearto- date Teague is up 30.7%, from $200,567 to $260,892.

Wortham was down 12.89% in March, from $21,908 to $19,082. However, the city is still up 21.98% for the year – $79.383 vs. $65,074.
