The Fairfield Eagles have begun their baseball season with an overall record of 8-2 and are 2-0 in district play. This year the Eagles are coached by Dalton Tharp. He is assisted by Aaron Allen and TJ McVeay.
“The Fairfield baseball season has started off strong,” Tharp said. “We are focused on maintaining this momentum and addressing areas where we can improve to ensure continued success throughout the season.
Tharp said that his goals for this season are to win a district championship, solidify a playoff spot, and develop this group of young men on and off the field to play our style of baseball.
Fairfield lost five seniors last season.
According to Tharp, some players to watch this season include Cal Wilson; super athletic outfielder in the lead off spot, Gustavo Aguilera; #1 Pitcher, Angel Serrato; very versatile player for us being able to play multiple positions, Dylon McGowan; power hitter, and Justin Johnson; senior ready to step in to make contributions defensively and offensively.
In their first two district games, Fairfield defeated Westwood 10-0 and Buffalo 13-0.
Aguilera struck out 12 batters and allowed no hits against Westwood. Against Buffalo, Aguilera stuck out 11 batters and only allowed one hit. The Eagles had nine hits in both the Westwood and Buffalo games.
